Working Out on the Road
For all you RVers that like to workout regularly, this is the article for you. It can often be difficult to get your exercise in while traveling because you spend so much time on the open road and going to extraordinary places. But it doesn’t have to be difficult. Read on for tips and information on maintaining your fitness routine while traveling.
Plan Ahead
You should always make sure to plan ahead for your trips regardless but you should also plan ahead when it comes to exercise. If you don’t plan ahead you will make it a lot harder to get your workouts in on the road and will probably fail to do what you wanted. This doesn’t mean that you need an itinerary down to the minute or hour for your whole trip, but just that you should think about what you’re going to be doing on your trip, how much time you’ll be driving each day, and when the best time is to get in some exercise. If one day you’re going to set out on the road at 8:00 AM and are going to be driving most of the day, maybe you plan to start working out by 7:00 AM.
Be Prepared
It’s important for the success of your fitness that you prepare for it just like you would prepare for your trip in the RV. Think about what equipment you need, if any. Are you planning on doing just body weight workouts? Well then maybe all you need is a mat and your water bottle. If you intend to or want to do workouts with resistance then you’ll want to make sure to bring the equipment that you use such as dumbbells, resistance bands, etc. You also need to make sure that you pack the necessary clothing and shoes for your workouts before you set out on your trip.
Replace Your Workouts
Another great thing that you can do to fit exercise into your road trip a lot smoother is to do physical activity that is along your trip. Instead of doing your usual workouts and bringing your equipment you can get your exercise from activities on your trip. Making a trip to or through Yosemite National Park? Go on a long hike as one of your workouts. Will your trip land you near a beach? Go for a tough run through the sand along the beach. You can also do things like rent a bike and go on a bike ride, go swimming at the beach or lake, go rock climbing, skiing, and more. You have so many opportunities depending on where you’re going! That’s why it is important to plan ahead and follow these tips to successfully incorporate exercise while on the road.
