Now is the Time for Trailer Maintenance and Care
It’s no news that things are a little crazy in the world right now. With COVID-19 causing most of us to work from home and just to stay home in general, now is the perfect time to give your trailer some extra attention. Owning a travel trailer means keeping up with maintenance and caring for it to keep it in the best shape possible. Here are some great things you can do to maintain and care for your trailer.
Tires
Let’s start with one of the most important ones: checking your tires. Your tires are arguably the part with the highest maintenance. They bare the weight of your trailer while rolling on all types of surfaces. Take the time to check your tire pressure, check your tread, or rotate your tires. You can do all of these quickly and easily with TrailerLegs. Your trailer will be up off the ground in just minutes, making it easy to check on your tires. And don’t forget to keep your TrailerLegs on when storing your trailer to keep your tires protected! Get yours here.
Brakes and Lights
Your brakes are the most important safety feature on your vehicle so don’t overlook them! Use this time at home to inspect them and see how much life is left on them. Take your trailer on a quick drive just to see how your brakes are doing. Is there squeaking? Do they apply smoothly? Also take this time to apply your brakes and check to see if your brake lights are functioning properly. Afterall we don’t spend much time behind our trailer to see them!
Get Clean
Stop putting it off and using all of your excuses and clean your trailer! Clean it inside and out. Wash and scrub all of last season’s dirt and grime off the outside and you’ll have a nice looking trailer for the next time you take it out. But don’t forget about the inside. Make sure you didn’t forget to empty out all of your equipment and personal items from the inside. And if even if you didn’t forget, clean the inside too! Clean any countertops, floors, carpet, toilets, showers, and sinks that you may have. And don’t be afraid to give any surface a good wipe down either, you’ll thank yourself the next time you’re in your trailer.
Check Everything Else
Don’t overlook checking up on everything else on your vehicle. Be sure to check your oil, suspension, check for damage and leaks, check your battery, air filters and more. It’s a good time to do overall maintenance and keep your trailer in top shape. Take the time to also lubricate parts of your trailer.
Taking the time now to maintain and care for your trailer will put you ahead and you’ll thank yourself in the future. And remember, get your own TrailerLegs to make your trailer maintenance quick and easy!
