But sometimes you wonder, what are those amazing places and things that we should see? Well if you’re planning a road trip that’s going to or through Hawaii then buckle up and read on for the best road trip stops in this state.
Turtle Bay
If you’re on Oahu, then you must check out Turtle Bay. Not only is it a stunning resort that you can stay with if you need a place to stay or you’re just sick of sleeping in your RV, but there’s lots to see and do. Most people come to Turtle Bay for fishing, diving, and surfing, but if you’re not looking to be that active it’s also a great place to just relax and enjoy the beach and/or pools.
Punalu’u Beach Park
Punalu’u Beach is famous for it’s black sand and the fact that it’s home to the endangered Hawksbill turtles. It’s gorgeous views make it a truly amazing spot to stop and relax at. You may be lucky enough to see some of the turtles resting on the beach basking in the sun. Swimming at Punalu’u is an amazing experience and one thing that makes it unique is the fact that there are underwater freshwater springs. The water from the springs is colder and sits on top of the seawater because salt water is more dense than fresh water. At times you will be swimming in water of 2 different temperatures. And don’t miss out snorkeling!
Akaka Falls
If you want to get in on seeing huge waterfalls while you’re in Hawaii then this is a must stop. Akaka Falls is massive 422 foot waterfall that is just as gorgeous to get to. There is a trailhead that includes multiple steps throughout, making it an easy to follow and amazing hike to take to get to the falls. However if hiking is not your thing and you just want to see the falls as quick as possible, there is a short path you can go down that will take you directly there.
Dole Plantation
Ever wonder where your precious, sweet dole pineapples really come from? They’re from Hawaii! Check out the Dole Plantation and be amazed at the vast fields of pineapples growing. There is also plenty to do there after seeing the fields of pineapple. They have the pineapple express train tour, plantation garden tour, pineapple garden maze, and there’s plenty of pineapple to eat at the Plantation Grille.
