How to Dewinterize Your RV
As the weather gets warmer it’s no surprise that Spring is just around the corner and then Summer following close by! It’s time to dust off that RV or trailer of yours and get ready to hit the open road. Get ready to winterize your RV.
Check your Tires
We’ve stressed the importance of tire maintenance many times and this is no exception. Even if you have been taking care of your tires all winter long by using your TrailerLegs and tire covers, you still need to make sure to check your tires to see how they are doing. Check the pressure, check for any cracks, flat spots, etc.
Check your Batteries
Also be sure to check your vehicle’s batteries and charge them if needed. Especially before setting out for a trip! No one wants to get stuck in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery
Flush your Water System
This is a very important step because now that you want to winterize and get your RV back up and running again, you want to make sure you have nice clean water for cooking, drinking, and showering. You need to make sure to thoroughly flush out your system so that any antifreeze you put in for the winter is completely gone.
Sanitize your Water System
After you flush out the system don’t forget to sanitize it! This is important to ensure your water is clean of any bacteria that may have occurred over the winter. Be sure to thoroughly flush the system out as well when you sanitize it.
Check/Change Air Filters
The air filters are another place to check up on after the winter season. There could be a lot of built up dust and debris from your trailer sitting in storage for months. To make sure that you will be breathing in clean air, its best to check on your filters and replace if needed.
Check your Engine
And last but definitely not least, you’ll need to check your engine. Make sure to inspect your vehicle’s fluid levels so that everything is in order and safe. Check the fluid levels of your power steering, transmission, brake fluid, oil, coolant, and windshield fluid and refill if needed.
